Hot lemonade

Warming hot lemonade, perfect for cold evenings and rainy afternoons. And let's face it - ther's no avoiding those. Luckily we have the lemonade. Great on its own or, to make it even more warming, with a drop of rhum.

Recipe: Hot lemonade

Serves:
Ingredients
  • 1 orange
  • 2 tangerines
  • 2 lemons
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 7-8 cardamom pods
  • 400 ml water
  • Optional: 40 ml rhum
Method
  • Slice half of an orange and squeeze juice from the other half.
  • Slice one lemon and one tangerine and squeeze juice from remaining two.
  • Place citrus slices and juice in a pot with spices and water.
  • Bring to boil and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and add rhum, if using.
  • Transfer to two mugs and serve hot.

Winter tangerine salad

It's so simple that it shouldn't even be called a recipe. Let's say that I have an idea for a delicious and presentable winter salad that will help us keep the right level of Vitamin C. Works great as a light dessert or a topping for a sweet breakfast, like porridge or pancakes.

Recipe: Winter tangerine salad

Serves: 2
Ingredients
  • 3-4 tangerines
  • 2 tbsp. of pomegranate seeds
  • a handful of fresh mint leaves
  • juice of 1/2 tangerine
Method
  • Peel and slice the tangerines, arrange them on a plate.
  • Top with pomegranate and chopped mint, drizzle with tangerine juice.

Mandarin oatmeal

Mandarins are one of the most iconic food symbols of the Chinese New Year. They represent good fortune, thus are displayed in houses, shops and offices, as well as exchanged as gifts with friends and relatives. It's hard to tell if their special powers function on an everyday basis, but every reason to eat a healthy breakfast is a good reason. Not only on the New Year's morning.

  • 1/2 cup of oatmeals
  • one cup of water
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp. of honey
  • 3 tbsp. of almond flakes
  • 2-3 mandarins
