Can You Drink Parsley Juice?

You can and you should! Parsley is well known to most everyone, but often underestimated and forgotten in the daily diet, whereas very little of it is enough to provide essential substances regulating the functioning of the body. It is a vegetable most often used as an herb, but not everyone knows that due to its high amounts of nutrients, essential oils and antioxidants, it carries so many health benefits, and there are many ways to use it. And juicing is a great way to easily incorporate more parsley into a diet. Regular consumption of parsley juice helps to get rid of many health problems. In fact, it is even recommended for children and pregnant women. But of course, as with everything - in reasonable quantities.

What Are The Benefits of Drinking Parsley Juice?

Parsley juice affects the body in many ways and is considered a natural and effective treatment for many symptoms and diseases. Parsley juice has detoxifying, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects. Folic acid contained in it supports the proper heart function and supports the health of newborns, which is why parsley is recommended for pregnant women.

Just two tablespoons of parsley can provide the body with up to 12% of the daily reference value for Vitamin A, which is crucial for the body's immunity and eye health, and as much as 154% of the recommended daily intake for Vitamin K, which supports strong bones and heart health. Thanks to its diuretic properties, it is also beneficial in fighting kidney stones, urinary tract infections and gallbladder infections. It also benefits skin and dental health by fighting infections and bacteria. Parsley essential oils are believed to be effective in eliminating fungus and also removing blemishes caused by bacteria on the skin. Another of its benefits is the reduction of bad breath. Parsley is a natural freshener that kills bacteria that cause unpleasant odours. [1]

Quite a lot, right? And that's far from everything! Read on to learn more about the medicinal properties of parsley juice.

Anti-Cancer Flavonoids in Parsley Juice

Parsley contains compounds that may have anti-cancer properties. It is rich in flavonoids and vitamin C, which reduce oxidative stress in the body and may lower the risk of certain cancers. In addition, apigenin, one of the flavonoids present in parsley, stimulates the death of breast tumour cells and inhibits their multiplication. Parsley is also recommended in the prevention of lung cancer. The essential oils responsible for its characteristic flavour neutralise carcinogenic substances inhaled into the lungs (including those contained in cigarette smoke). Lastly, eating foods rich in vitamin C may also reduce the risk of cancer. [2, 3]

Antioxidants in Parsley

The above-mentioned antioxidants in parsley help slow down the ageing process by fighting free radicals, oxidative stress and inflammation in the body. This is very important because the formation of free radicals contributes to every age-related disease, including heart disease, neurodegenerative diseases, eye disease and, as stressed before, various types of cancer. Parsley Juice for Weight Loss

Parsley is very low in calories, although rich in chlorophyll, a substance that enhances detoxification of the body and supports weight loss. Parsley juice improves digestion, helps cleanse the body and removes excess water, which causes swelling and can interfere with fat burning. It also promotes the reduction of cellulite. In addition, it regulates the work of the stomach and intestines, prevents bloating and gas. It helps to avoid constipation.

Parsley juice also facilitates weight loss by strengthening the immune system - the body may be weakened at the beginning of a diet and increased exercise, so it is easier to catch an infection that can prevent from continuing the diet and exercise. Feeling good increases motivation to lose weight and reach the target weight. Adding lemon to the juice helps to further enhance its slimming properties. Lemons, also full of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and antioxidants, boost metabolism and keep the body better hydrated. Thanks to lemons we also feel full, which results in the consumption of fewer calories and allows the body to lose weight faster. Parsley and lemon juice for weight loss should be used in parallel with a low-calorie diet and increased physical activity. [6]

Parsley Juice for Heart Health

Heart disease, such as heart attacks and strokes, is a major problem worldwide. Parsley contains many compounds that benefit heart health by reducing risk factors for heart disease. It reduces levels of bad LDL cholesterol, reduces the risk of coronary heart disease, and its high vitamin C content positively correlates with lower levels of heart inflammation and helps prevent diseases such as atherosclerosis (a dangerous build-up of plaque in the arteries). What Does This Parsley Juice Taste Like

Parsley, apple and lemon blend together to make this terrific drink providing lots of fibre, vitamin C, potassium and improving digestion. The lemon adds a lot of freshness and makes the whole thing very refreshing. The apple gives it a slightly thicker texture and a little sweetness. It also provides the juice with an extra boost of energy and thus it can be enjoyed as a breakfast replacement. The apple and lemon also soften the parsley, which has a rather intense and distinct flavour. All together they create a well-balanced and delicious juice. Drink it as a refreshment when you fancy something both crisp and light.

How To Make Parsley Juice Step By Step?

This juice is very easy to make. Just peel the apple and cut it into small pieces, chop the parsley and then put it all together in the juicer. Once the juice is extracted, add the lemon juice, combine with cold water, and you're done!

You can also make this juice in a Vitamix, just add an extra glass of water because the texture will be much more reminiscent of a smoothie. Proceed in exactly the same way as with the juicer, adding extra water during blending.

Juice can be stored for up to two days in a tightly sealed bottle in the refrigerator.
