Hot lemonade

Warming hot lemonade, perfect for cold evenings and rainy afternoons. And let's face it - ther's no avoiding those. Luckily we have the lemonade. Great on its own or, to make it even more warming, with a drop of rhum.

Recipe: Hot lemonade

  • 1 orange
  • 2 tangerines
  • 2 lemons
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 7-8 cardamom pods
  • 400 ml water
  • Optional: 40 ml rhum
  • Slice half of an orange and squeeze juice from the other half.
  • Slice one lemon and one tangerine and squeeze juice from remaining two.
  • Place citrus slices and juice in a pot with spices and water.
  • Bring to boil and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and add rhum, if using.
  • Transfer to two mugs and serve hot.

apple cinnamon rolls

One of the greatest breakfasts of all times. It's a perfect treat for a lazy Sunday morning.

They taste remarkably divine when still warm, with the icing that has not set entirely.

A definite crowd-pleaser. If you decide to share it, that is.

Recipe: The dough

  • one cup of milk
  • 1/3 cup of melted butter
  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. of instant yeast
  • 2 cups of flour
  • Combine milk, butter and sugar in a pot. Scald the mixture. Set aside and let cool until lukewarm.
  • Add yeast, let them sit for a minute and add flour. Stir the mixture together until well combined.
  • Cover and let sit for at least an hour.
  • Work the dough. You might need to add some more flour (about 1/2 cup).

Recipe: Cream cheese icing

  • 200 g of cream cheese
  • 1/3 cup of confectioner's sugar
  • 1/3 cup of milk
  • Mix cream cheese, confectioner's sugar and milk together until thick and pourable.

Recipe: Apple cinnamon rolls

  • 1/3 cup of melted butter
  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp. of ground cinnamon
  • 2 small apples, diced
  • Sprinkle surface with flour. Roll the dough into a rectangular shape.
  • Drizzle with melted butter, sprinkle with brown sugar, top with diced apples.
  • Role up dough and pinch edge together to seal. Cut into rolls.
  • Place cinnamon roll slices close together in a buttered pan and let rise for about 30 minutes.
  • Bake at 200C for 15-20 minutes.
  • Top warm rolls with the icing.

  • 5 pears
  • 1 1/2 cup of dry red wine
  • 5 tsp. of cold butter
  • 5 tsp. of brown sugar
  • 5 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 anise stars
  • mascarpone, to serve

Recipe: Crust

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 125 g of butter
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • 1 tbsp. of white wine vinegar
  • a pinch of salt
  • Combine flour and salt in a large ball. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives - the mixture should resemble coarse crumbs.
  • Add whisked egg and vinegar. Form dough, shape into ball, wrap in cling film. Refrigerate for at least an hour.

Recipe: Pumpkin filling

  • 1 cup of homemade pumpkin puree
  • 3/4 can of sweet condensed milk
  • 2 eggs, whisked
  • 1 tsp. of ground cardamom
  • 1 tsp. of ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. of ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. of ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. of ground cinnamon
  • Mix spices in a large bowl. Add whisked eggs, stir in pumpkin puree and condensed milk.
  • Whisk all together until well incorporated.
  • Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a circle. Place on to a pie plate.
  • Pour the filling into pie shell and bake at 180C for about 40 minutes (until the filling is set).

Recipe: Cranberry sauce

  • 1 cup of fresh cranberries
  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup of water
